Mission At its business meeting in 2007, the Research Network on Ageing in Europe decided to actively support PhD students. Many members of the RN are PhD students and during previous RN-meetings they repeatedly voiced the need for additional support with their dissertations. Some felt insecure with presentations at conferences, some wanted more information in general, and others mentioned that they would like to intensify networking with other PhD students. In Glasgow, the RN therefore decided to have one coordinator explicitly focusing on the situation and needs of PhD students. PhD workshop 2010 Our second PhD-workshop "Qualitative Methods in Ageing Research" -
a cooperation with RN 20, Qualitative Methods - took place in Vechta, Northern Germany, August, 2010. The workshop
has given PhD students the opportunity to present their research, to get feedback from senior researchers
